Jessi is a Las Vegas native and received her BA in Psychology at UNLV. She has spent the last two years in Seattle, WA attending Antioch University for her MFA in Couple and Family Therapy and is thrilled to return to Vegas as a student intern.
Jessi has had extensive experience involving healthcare administration, peer support, and crisis intervention. While in WA, she managed psychiatric and therapeutic services into over 50 Skilled-Nursing Facilities for geriatric patients. Jessi has also volunteered her time in crisis advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and facilitating support groups for mental health in the community. Through her experiences, she’s witnessed how impactful connecting with others is and uses that as a motivating factor for building relationships with clients.
At the center of Jessi’s practice is trauma-informed care. Jessi believes in deepening and empowering one’s story as a way to redefine the healing journey. Healing is not linear, so Jessi fosters a space of acceptance for any pace you may be at. Building trust and being vulnerable can certainly be a difficult thing, so Jessi integrates grounding techniques such as mindfulness and polyvagal into a narrative therapeutic approach. In addition, Jessi recognizes how relationships with ourselves and others are impacted when having experienced trauma. She finds that through Internal Family System (IFS) parts work we can learn to accept the parts of ourselves that have been neglected throughout those traumatic experiences.
Above all, Jessi is a cat mom to her beloved 9 year old Maine Coon mix. As an avid animal lover, she will never pass up an opportunity to see a picture of your pets!
